CHARACTER
Name: "Master Ebalon" (typically goes by just Ebalon)
True Name: Dantalion
Canon: Elsword (505 years after the El Explosion, roughly chapter 27)
Age: Over 1,000 years; he appears roughly 18-21ish physically however.
History: Wiki link and wiki link for the guy he's pretending to be just for clarification purposes.

Powers/Abilities:
  • Immortality: Appears to only be a lifespan thing since he's lived for over 1,000 years. He's implied to be perfectly killable in canon otherwise.
  • Shapeshifting: Ebalon can take on the form of whatever he likes. His real appearance is unknown, and his current preferred appearance is that of Harque Ebalon, who he's impersonating.
  • Moon Magic: The power of the moon has two aspects, the light and the dark. The light is responsible for the areas of healing and protection though it can be used to inflict injuries; the dark is the more violent aspect that's mostly used to harm. The light aspect also has a freezing effect to it if needed, shown by other moon magic users in-game. Ebalon typically summons apparitions of the moon when casting large spells and has a crest that will appear at his back when he uses magic. This is a decent video of how he fights in-game (very slowly because he stands there to cast spells the entire time) and this has a list of specific spells he has in the above fight. Unlike Harque, he does NOT have time magic — I think the wiki link above makes this slightly unclear.
  • Mind Magic: Ebalon has access to mind spells including modification, falsification, and deletion of memories. He puts his target to sleep before doing this, which brings me to...
  • Sleep Magic: What it says on the tin. There's nothing special here.

Inventory: His spellbook and staff as shown in this image. The latter of the set is summoned into existence (shown in the video above in the beginning cutscene). Other than that, he simply has the clothes on his back.

Job History:
  • Sage of Seven Tower (former): Canon is unclear what a "Sage" is, but it is implied that a Sage is in the upper echelons of students there and that the title has prestige associated with it. Specifically he was part of the Seven Tower of Mirage, which is simply a fancy name for one of the seven towers. As he was a student, his responsibilities included "homework", "studying magic", and likely "conducting magical experiments" given that Seven Tower was a college for mages.
  • El Master (former): In short, a Master is someone who has complete mastery over their chosen element, his being the Moon. The Master is then put into a protectorate role over the El, which at the time was a massive crystal responsible for maintaining life over the world at large. There is one Master each for the elements of Water, Fire, Wind, Earth, Sun, and Moon, so he did not act alone in this protector role. That being said, Ebalon betrayed the Masters and the world at large by orchestrating the destruction of the El and causing an apocalypse, so that ended rather well.
  • High-Ranking Member of Henir's Order (current): Also in short, Henir's Order is an apocalypse cult that seeks to cast the world into Henir, the primordial chaos. Responsibilities include "blowing up the crystal that sustains the life of the entire world" and also a ton of research into how to further access Henir and use its power to corrupt. Canon heavily implies that Ebalon is one of the leaders or at least, high-ranking enough to have people following his command. He and other Order members will attempt to recruit others to their cause as cults are wont to do.

Suppressions: Ebalon often tries to repress his true nature by acting in ways that the man he's impersonating would act — that being kind, helpful, and generally good-natured. It's rare, but sometimes the mask does slip and there are moments where he's unnecessarily violent, angry, or otherwise not living up to the standards his "predecessor" set. He's very quick to reign this in, but if one pays enough attention, it's noticeable. He's quite obviously trying to suppress the fact that he's also not who he says he is.

Greatest Fear
: His plans to throw the entire world into the primordial chaos being interrupted or otherwise thrown off track so badly that they cannot continue as they are.

Greatest Desire: To have as many people as possible under the yoke of the Order carrying out their mission of wrecking the entire world.

Greatest Regret: It's very unclear if he regrets anything, but I imagine his greatest regret might have been showing his hand too early. The El exploded and it was ostensibly his fault, but now he can't exactly continue his manipulations from the point of being a Master, and the world is relatively okay 500 years later. This is absolutely not how it was supposed to be.
